Cambridge Photon Technology is tackling one of the most crucial global challenges, increasing the efficiency of solar modules. Key to CPT’s breakthrough in photon multiplication (PM) technology is the design of organic molecules with the required photo-physical properties.

November 2022 saw CPT’s team of synthetic organic chemists increase with the addition of Dr Troy Bennett. He is the first in a number of planned hires, as the company accelerates its technology development.

Troy joins CPT from Imperial College London, where he worked as a post-doctoral researcher. His expertise encompasses synthesis of conjugated small-molecules, macrocycles, and polymers for use in organic electronics, photocatalysis, and thermoelectric materials. Troy will augment the company’s existing strengths in synthesizing, testing and optimizing new optoelectronic materials, working alongside CPT’s scientists and academic partners to drastically improve silicon photovoltaic performance.

CEO Claudio Marinelli said: “We welcome Troy to our growing team. Continued expansion of CPT is essential to accelerate our technology development and pursue our opportunity in the solar market.  Our aim is to continue this trajectory into 2023”.
